Description:The International Exposition Center (I-X Center) is seeking a well-qualified individual to fill the position of Director of Sales. This is a senior executive role focused on developing new business with industry trade shows and large consumer events at our world-class convention center in Cleveland, Ohio.
Duties:The ideal candidate will be fully qualified to:
Identify and competitively pursue new business opportunities for our world-class exposition center
Identify and solicit producers and associations affiliated with trade shows and large consumer events
In this market and in comparable markets and solicit those accounts
Implement telephone and personal solicitation campaigns to communicate the benefits of holding an event at the I-X Center
Establish personal rapport with new clients and maintain relationships with repeat clients.
Maintain sales documentation. Continually develop and maintain database for all prospects and active clients
Draft financial P&L statements for prospect events
Arrange for facility site visits and/or travel off-site to meet clients & observe their events
Work with Positively Cleveland CVB & area hotel properties to sell the destination and hotel package
Negotiate renewal of annual sales contracts. Negotiate and sell all price points to clients
Ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction to our current and potential clients on a regular basis
Qualifications: Bachelors degree in a business-related field
Minimum of 5-7 years of senior-level sales experience, including 2 years directly and specifically related to this event sales
Experience in trade show, convention center and/or General Contracting industry is essential
Solid experience with account management and closing sales is essential
Excellent telephone, presentation, written/verbal communication, negotiation, creative, organization and interpersonal skills
Strong computer aptitude with skill at using Microsoft Office products. (Must have the capacity for learning new systems)
Customer service and team orientation
Strong oral, written, and editing communication skills
Ability to organize, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks with attention to detail
Strong conflict resolution and problem solving skills
Ability to travel as required
